Family Time Saturday

Saturday was a good day visiting family in Virginia. Though I spend most of the day feeling burnt from lack of sleep (3 hours aboard a redeye flight Friday night) I managed to stay awake through it. I met my cousin Matt for lunch in Alexandria. We chatted for a few hours about family, politics, and scifi.
Around 3 I went to my youngest sister's house to visit her, her family, and my mom. Their schedule was supposed to be crazy today with my brother in law and one of my nephews at a scouting camping trip. Camping got canceled... unsure why, it's not rainy or anything, and rain never stopped us when I was in scouts, anyway. That initially added to the confusion but it worked out well for my visit because it meant fewer people going different places. I got to hang out with my sister, mom, and BIL for several hours.
I saw my nephews and niece, too... kind of. They're pretty much all teenagers now. And they're pretty much all moody teenagers.
"J, say hello to your uncle Canyonwalker," my sister would admonish one of her kids as they came into the house, sulking, and walked straight past us in the living room.
"HeLlO uNcLe CaNyOnWaLkEr," they'd groan from the other room.
Sometimes, if you're ever wondering if you should've had kids, just spend a hot minute with someone else's kids. 🤣
